Tyan makes computer components and servers. This Taiwanese company is well-known in the computer industry for its systems. They are affordable and designed to scale quickly with your business. Aside from full server systems, Tyan also makes motherboards, riser cards, chassis and other assorted components.

The Tyan Corporation recently became a wholly owned subsidiary of MiTAC, so its place in the world changed slightly. While it's still a viable brand name in computers and components, it is completely part of the larger company. Investors interested in Tyan may instead turn to MiTAC. Consider the following when looking at Tyan information:

1. The MiTAC and Tyan web sites have a wealth of information for anyone looking into the company.

2. The Tyan Corporation manufactures several types of computer systems and components.

3. Financial information for Tyan Inc is now rolled up along with MiTAC.

Action Steps
The best contacts and resources to help you get it done

Visit the MiTAC web site and the Tyan web site for corporate information

Both companies maintain separate websites that detail their individual brands and provide additional information on product lines, merger information and future business goals. The sites also feature contact information for many important members of both companies, testimonials and financial records.

I recommend: The Tyan web site has a nice overview of the company as a whole. You can find MiTAC’s business model on their website, which will help give a good idea about the Tyan corporate profile.

Find products made by Tyan Limited

Tyan make a wide variety of computer products, ranging from basic riser cards to motherboards and onto full desktop and server systems. They make board versions that work on both AMD and Intel architecture, and they perform OEM work for many other prominent server and motherboard manufacturers.

I recommend: CDW carries a selection of products made by Tyan. They are mostly, motherboards but they have a small selection of chassis and riser cards as well. Bell Micro specializes in rackmount servers. They carry many different models of Tyan pre-built server computers.

Look over the Tyan company financial records

As Tyan is now completely part of MiTAC, it does not have a separate corporate or stock market identity. You can still research Tyan and their financial health; you just need to do it through MiTAC.

I recommend: At Reuters, you can find a wealth of financial information and links to important parts of the MiTAC homepage. You can also look at the company’s current stock price and track changes to it over time. Accessible directly from MiTAC, you can look over the company’s quarterly and annual reports, both current and back several years.

Tips & Tactics
Helpful advice for making the most of this Guide

  • Both Tyan and MiTAC work as Original Equipment Manufacturers (or OEM). This means that they make components for other companies, and then they're rebranded with a different logo. It's possible that you have used their equipment in the past and not known it, as it may have had a different logo on it.
