How to go about doing SMO?

Social media optimization is nothing but optimizing your websites and more so your blogs to be easily connected to and promoted by tagging or linking to, so that it can come up in social searched easily as more and more users get associated with the website/blog.

I recommend: Social networking portals being based on "Architecture of Participation" where users share, tag (user generated keyword to identify and make information searchable.) and add contents freely, it is must for websites and blogs to provide such facilities to be promoted easily.
For instance, for posts to be easily tagged, various plug-ins are available which makes it possible to tag the post or add to user's favorite list easily with simple click of a button or icon.

Now blogs lacking these tagging features are clearly missing on the fun provided by tagging and more importantly on additional traffic that would have been generated had it being tagged.
