Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, or GTMO, is located in the southeast corner of Cuba. It's the oldest US naval base overseas. It contains two distinct areas: the airfield and the main base. There are many separate commands, including a naval hospital, Naval Atlantic Meteorologic and Oceanographic Command, a naval communications station and Department of Defense Dependent Schools.

Norfolk Naval Base is the world's largest Naval Station. It houses 78 ships and 133 aircraft. It is homeport to aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers and other large naval ships. The base made history on July 2, 1997, when the Navy's newest Nimitz class carrier, the USS John C. Stennis, returned to port and joined the USS George Washington, the USS Theodore Roosevelt, the USS Enterprise and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, making it the first time five nuclear carriers were at port at the same time.
