MySpace is one of the most popular websites on the Internet, and, if harnessed correctly, can send more traffic to your website than the search engines currently do, and you can do this at very little cost and surprisingly very little time commitment. SEO was the buzz word of yesterday, social networking and web 2.0 are the buzz words for tomorrow.
The best contacts and resources to help you get it done

Choosing a MySpace URL
Once you have your myspace account your profile page URL will be something like myspace.com/8954895698598549. When you are logged in you will be able to change the numbers for words. ("Please choose your URL")
When choosing a myspace URL choose something memorable and search-engine friendly. Your username becomes the URL someone will use to view your profile. Like this: www.myspace.com/URLOfYourChoice.
Once you have chosen this, it cannot be changed (like a domain name), so choose wisely.
I recommend: You might even want to choose a web-2.0-type word like squidoo or floodle.
Here is a handy web 2.0 name generator.
Creating an attractive myspace profile
MySpace allows you to create a profile page for yourself.
Having a myspace profile which takes a full minute to load just won't cut it if you want to grow your friend numbers.
On your profile editing page you are allowed to insert HTML code in order to change certain aspects of the page, or to completely revamp it. If you want to completely revamp it you will need what is called a myspace overlay. An overlay is the simplest way to make your page attractive, clean-cut, simple, and user-friendly.
I recommend: Google search results for Free MySpace OverlayUseful resources for finding the overlay that's right for you.
Start adding the people you know
If you visit the profile page of someone you already know you will not only be able to add them as your friend but you'll also be able to see who they have as friends and you'll be able to add them too. Add someone you know, then find one of their friends who you also know, add them, them add one of their friends, etc etc. Do this with only people you know until you get to between 30 - 50 friends.
I recommend: You can always start by adding me. Click for my personal myspace profile.
Download a friend adder program
The problem with MySpace is that you have to add friends one by one. Trying to get a meaningful number of connections using this method is painfully slow at the best of times, and so programmers have created numerous software applications which will speed up the process for you and allow you to type in the location, gender, age, interests, etc, of your target friends and it will add them for you. Automatically. I recommend the application Badder Adder. It is $47, gives you unlimited upgrades, and will let you "chain" accounts together. This Basically means you can send more than the 450-friend-requests-per-day limit. I am affiliated with Badder Adder., and I use it every day.
I recommend: A free trial of Badder Adder.
Don't go overboard and don't spam people
MySpace will delete your account if you add thousands of friends on day one. It's just what they do. This is why you should add the people you know first for two or three days. You should only be concerned about this if you are on MySpace to spam people. If you treat other users with respect, this should not happen to you.
