You've recently recognized that if You're going to be able to keep up with Your competition, or attract a wider base of clientel, You need to have a website for Your business. If You think that means merely creating a site to promote and market your business, allow me to enlighten You. A website is also a great way to learn more about both prospective and existing customers, and to build relationships with them. This guide will show You how to build Your business website to be more effective, and how to incorporate the latest and best industry methods regarding design, content, and new technologies. To assure that You cover all the bases You should start by creating a basic plan. This can set the pace and keep You organized. Understand that this process involves a gradual metamorphisis. In the beginning, try not to build too big. Enthusiastic vision is good, but You need to build up to such lofty goals slowly and methoically. Begin by determining these key things: How to best showcase Your product or service; What Your target group is; How Your site compares to Your competitors; What Your promotional strategy is. Realize also that Your website is a great way to distribute information about Your Business and, solicit customer response. Remember, Your website represents You, as well as Your business. So it is very important that You build it right. After You've Determined those key things, You need to decide what tools You need to drive the right traffic to Your site. The Internet is very competitive, with over 11 billion websites, so You must discover what works best for You, or prospective customers will quickly go elsewhere. I know statistics can be boring and seem irrelevant. But if You really want a competitve edge You need to be aware of some basic facts. 99.5% of all new businesses fail. The average visitor to a website spends less that 2.8 minutes there. The typical conversion rate of visitor to paying customer is between 1-4%. Obviously, the odds are heavily stacked against You. Those stats should instill in You how important creating an attractive, well organized and relevant website is. If You're planning on selling products onsite, You will need a merchant account. They range from free & easy, to costly & complicated. Generally, the more variety, the greater the need for more formal payment processing services. When displaying multiple products, a shopping cart is inevitable. Simple, downloadable information & software can be sold through PayPal, AlertPay, or E-Gold, etc.To measure Your ROI (return on investment) and other crucial data requires traffic reports. They let You know what strategies work, and how to improve results. Proper tools vary in cost & sophistication. You can gauge the amount of traffic to Your site with a free counter, but it won't tell who they were or where they came from, both of which are vital stats when judging a promo campaigns effectiveness. One of the worst mistakes I made when starting to promote my business via websites, was neglecting the significance of tracking my traffic. I had no such tools on my first few sites, and they never turned a profit. I was just shooting into space hoping that I'd catch something, without understanding that I was getting nothing because I was aiming at nothing!Discuss with an expert what the necessary tools for Your specific business site are. Then, of course, it’s really important to actually use the information that You collect. Internet Marketing isn't just about compiling impressive stats. It’s about getting the right customers to Your website. That may require changing Your content, format, style, or graphics. You may have to completely rethink Your marketing strategies & search engine optimization tactics. Most reliable hosting companies give excellent courses on the topic. To attract the right customers, presentation is a key. Remember, with more than 11 billion sites, You must capture viewers’ attention fast. You must engage them. Boasting about Your business turns most potential customers away. The Internet is about information. Visitors come to a site wanting more specific information about a business. Details on Your products or services, & contact information should be easily visible and readily available. Few will take the time to scroll thru annoying copy. Therefore, be sure that Your website design allows visitors to navigate to what they’re looking for quickly and easily. Your site's design should give people an immediate reason to stay, & to buy. You want to excite visitors & make them want to come back for more. To that end, use of promotions online is just as appropriate as offline. Two-for-one discounts, bonus freebies,& other special offers are staples on every successful business website. You should put a good deal of thought into creating eye-catching promos. If You plan on doing it Yourself, You will need to upload graphics and related tools to Your website. You should plan to update and modify Your exhibits often. By now You should be grasping the close relationship between websites & marketing. I see them as two sides of the same coin. A website is Your online showroom, while Your marketing strategies are the vehicle to transport customers to the showroom. One time visitors rarely purchase. To build a website that is successful, You must attract repeat buyers. So it’s very important to provide submission forms to collect e-mail addresses from your visitors in order to build a good prospect database. There are several different ways to do this. You could have a Subscribe-To-My-Newsletter link, a Contact-Us link, or a Get-A-Free-Ebook form. Once visitors sign up, start building a relationship with them through email. We should all know what SPAM is and as a reputable business owner, You will never send unsolicited email. What I'm telling You to set up on Your website is a way to be ultra-productive using permission-based email marketing, which is a completely legal and acceptable way to inform Your customers of Your new deals. At the top of this guide, I advised that You avoid creating too big a website. I remind You of that here because one of the biggest deterants to new visitors is a slow loading site. So make sure that Your website doesn't have too many techie-gadgets that cause Your pages to load slowly. The faster visitors can navigate around a site, the more likely they’ll become paying customers. Monitor Your site's loading times often. Sites don’t need to be flashy. You want to create a website that’s enjoyable for visitors to browse, so don’t clutter up Your website. You should also know that words matter. On a website, they matter even more. Headlines are what Your visitors see first, and good ones will grab their attention and compel them to read more. Good content encourages visitors to browse and discover more of what You’re offering. If Your copy is working, it will also improve search engine rank, bring in targeted customers, and prompt visitors to purchase. Normally, You Should keep the words on your site clear of technical terms that few of your prospective customers will understand. Your copy should be upbeat and provide useful information exclusive to Your website. In conclusion, understand that good copy also creates credibility and increases Your visitor's trust. Be careful not to oversell. Your copy should only inform and never boast. Remember,Your site is not an advertisement. It is a media whose intent it is to initiate a relationship with potential customers. The most successful websites are simple, easy to navigate, and easy to understand. They convince visitors that they should become Your customer. Your website design and its words should help every visitor to want to do business with You.
