At Work.com, you can share your business knowledge through writing how-to guides and adding comments to those guides. Help others get business tasks done by telling us how you chose accounting software or hired your first employee, or what to know before buying a pizza oven or finding a clothing manufacturer in China. If you are just starting your own business, start by browsing guides you find useful and asking questions of the guide authors.

Community contributions are posted without editing beforehand. The Work.com community rates and comments on contributions. The more useful business advice you give, the more exposure you and your business will gain.

Here’s what we ask of contributors to keep our community useful to all:

  • Add something valuable. Others can learn from your experience. Guides that link to a variety of useful resources tend to get higher ratings. Remember that contributing useful information enhances your reputation, and is the best way to promote your business.
  • Gain fans through cultivating trust. The most trusted guides are written by authors who disclose their role and their relationship to any products or services mentioned in their guide, and who have fully filled out their profiles with a photo and bio. It’s okay to talk about your own products or services, as long as you tell us who you are and provide truly useful information. Keep in mind that Work.com members appreciate a broad view of a topic – educating your readers about the entire scope of your topic and its related resources helps establish you as a thought leader.
  • Update your guides. Make sure you keep your guides updated and your links fresh. An advantage of updating your guides is that updated guides appear on the homepage at the top of the Newest Guides list.
  • You are responsible for the content you publish on Work.com.
  • No obscene or inappropriate content, copyrighted material, content that infringes upon the rights of others, spam, and other inappropriate content as stated in more detail in the Work.com Terms of Use. This includes content that is not about a business topic, blatant advertisements that offer nothing useful, scams, and linkspam. Content determined to be inappropriate will be deleted.

If you come across any content that doesn't meet the guidelines above, please flag it for review or email feedback@work.com. Editors will review flagged content. We reserve the right to edit or delete content that doesn't meet our guidelines, as well as ban users who violate them.
