Business presentations are a part of life for just about anybody who wants to make it in the business world today.  Despite the advent of computer technology, there are many people who are more receptive to, and comprehending of, information that they can hold in their hands.  It doesn't matter if the presentation is of a resume, white paper, selling points, advertising campaign, or a training seminar, having the right materials for your purpose can make all the difference between success and failure.

Starting with a good layout and graphic design is, of course, important.  Most business people want to hire a good graphic designer for that alone, but a frequently overlooked benefit to hiring a professional is their invaluable experience with various sorts of presentation media and material.  You can find a variety of good graphic designers at DeviantArt .

However, if you're going to do a lot of business presentations, it helps to develop a bit of familiarity with the methods and papers used yourself.  Offset printing is the highest quality, and most expensive, form of printing.  While it can be somewhat costly, if the presentation must last for a long time in good condition, or if the information is being presented with a high level of detailed graphics, the benefits generally outweigh the costs.  Laser or inkjet printing may be suitable for normal or black and white presentations, but for full, stunning color graphics, offset printing is the best.

While it may seem like a small matter, the paper you put your presentation on can be the important detail that makes or breaks your presentation, and even more important, reputation.  Ranging from Strathmore bond paper to McCoy silk paper, there are dozens of different high-quality papers to choose from. Paper can be thick or thin, glossy or matte, textured or smooth.  What paper you'll want for your presentation is highly dependent on what form the presentation takes.  A resume is probably best done on an all purpose paper, such as Strathmore writing paper, while a customized series of graphics might need Mohawk Irish linen paper to get the right texture to showcase your careful design work.

No matter whether you're doing it yourself or hiring a professional or firm, having a basic knowledge of the materials your business needs ensures that you have the data you need to make your business shine.
