Halloween is just around the corner now that summer has come and gone. I'm sorry for opening my guide with such doom and gloom in regards to summer, but one must think ahead!

I've had a lot of experience generating buzz for companies during Halloween, as well as other holidays. Since Halloween is 2 months away to this date we'll talk about some ideas you can use to attract some clients, and hopefully improve your SEO efforts.

Before you even think of putting these methods to use, I hope that your companies social media marketing efforts are somewhat off the ground. If they're not I would recommend, this instant, signup up your company to Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg, Youtube and your own company blog. You're going to need a jump off point to launch your marketing efforts.

If you've been using most of those social media platforms already them pat yourself on the back. They are crucial elements to any marketing strategy now adays, and for some of these tactics you're going to need all the help you can get. I'd also recommend hunting around for users on those social media platforms that could be interested in your company. Sniff those users out and start sending friend requests, get involved in your niche community.

Halloween Contests:

The Halloween holiday is a great time to do something fun that everyone can take part of. This opens up the door for a flood gate of potential clients. Halloween Costumes are a cheap prize to get, so that means you can offer a few costumes as a handout.

Once you've got your contest in place and your social media friends awaiting your digital commands, you can then kick things off. If you spend an hour a day attracting attention to your contest you'll attract potential customers.

There are also a lot of blogs and websites dedicated just to announcing contests. Just do a quick Google search for "submit contest" and you'll see a plethora of places to do so.

Viral Halloween Content:

This is where a company blog comes into play. There are so many things you could talk about to attract visitors to your website that you shouldn't pass this up. There are going to be more and more people searching for Halloween related content on the social sites, as well as searching for it on Google.

This is the perfect opportunity to create some fun content, a resource list or anything related to the holiday. Ask coworkers, friends and family what they think would be cool to see, unless of course you can think of something right away.

Making The Most Of Social Media:

When you set out into the social media space with intentions to distribute your content then go over these tips carefully. There are always tools and tips you can use to make sure the content is going to get discovered.

Tags: 99% of the social media sites incorporate the use of tagging, so make sure you're getting in the right tags when submitting your content. Some social sites have their tag pages indexed in Google which can lead to backlinks and potential serp rankings for a great keyword.

Hash Tags: This applies to only Twitter, and they're basically the same as tags on any other platform. When you're tweet'n your content from your profile, include the hash tags for Halloween such as;

#Halloween #Halloweencostumes - check out our amazing Halloween Contest running right now!

Shout It Out: Don't forget to bookmark your content within the popular social bookmarking sites. This will help bring in that extra exposure and a few links your way.

Rinse and Repeat:

A lot of viral and contest campaigns don't always work out but you never know until you try, right? Even if it doesn't your Halloween related content will still be there for next year and by then it may even rank really well.

If you find that it isn't working good enough but you need results now you still have a few options. Get in touch with bloggers in the industry, Halloween related or anyone with a big audience. You may be able to pursuade them to tell their readers about your efforts.
