Action Steps
The best contacts and resources to help you get it done

Check your credit report regularly and remove inaccuracies.

Don’t let your credit condition suffer due to inaccurate information. Contact the credit associated with the account or the credit reporting agencies if you find an inaccuracy on your credit report.

I recommend: You can obtain a copy of your credit report, by contacting the three major credit bureaus:

Apply for a secured credit card.

Search for a secured credit card that reports to all three credit bureaus monthly. Use the card but make sure to pay it of every month. Even if your line of credit is low, don't worry you have to start somewhere. The bank will increase your line of credit as you prove yourself by making onetime payments. And the most important thing is your credit score will begin improving little by little as soon as your make the first on time payment.

I recommend: New Millennium Bank Secured Black Diamond Visa® or MasterCard

Get a credit card with any reputable institution that will give you one.

Again, you have to make sure they’ll report your timely payments to the credit reporting companies. Of course, you have to always pay at least the minimum before the due date.

I recommend: Here is the list of the credit card reviews of lenders that approves bad credit cards request.

Use a co-signer on your first few credit accounts.

Lenders will consider the co-signer’s existing credit. The co-signer essentially ‘vouches’ for you while you build credit. Note that this is a big responsibility – you can cause major headaches for the co-signer if you don’t pay as agreed.

I recommend: Talk with family or friends and explain to them that they'll be helping you to reestablish your credit. Bur remember the risk for the co-signer.

Ask Credit Repair Help

There are creditors that are not willing to remove the collection even if you pay, and creditors that put your account in charge off status should be referred to a law firm that specializes in credit reports. These firms will write letters and try to remove collection and charge off accounts from your credit bureau.

I recommend: eCreditRepair – will give you a free credit restoration analysis

  • After you build credit, you may be flooded with offers. Banks, credit card companies, and others will want to loan you money because they'll know you're a good borrower. Don’t take them up on every offer -- only borrow money when it truly benefits you.
